Lazy Thursday

Today was a day off work, but it was rather chilly here getting no warmer than 30 degrees.  It was overcast and we had a snow shower this afternoon. I didn't feel like walking any of the trails around here because of that.  I spent the afternoon reading and doing laundry.  Lazy day, indeed.

It was a rather good food day, though.  The Old Faithful Lodge is opening tomorrow and they host a shakedown luncheon for all park employees who are available. About 5-6 of us from our residence went together. That Lodge has a cafeteria style dining room.  There were food stations set up with food ranging from noodle bowls, to bar-b-que to salads and sandwiches and more dinner like things. After making a selection,  we sat in the dining room that has a wall of windows facing Old Faithful.  we were lucky enough to be there when it went off.  With the air being so cold, there is a massive amount of steam so it really was fabulous.  Sorry, no pictures.

Two of the people came from large families, one with 6 kids and one with 11 kids.  both the youngest and complained about how hard it was to eat well, and not allowed to complain or whine.  I chimed in about being the youngest of 4, but with much better stories because my siblings were older and liked me better than theirs seemed to like them.  I also talked about being a picky eater and being catered to.  One of the guys threatened to slap me, all in fun of course

I was talking with Than earlier and he told me he had pork chops for dinner along with broccoli and cauliflower.  I was laughing because pork chops was the selection for the EDR (employee dining room) tonight.  We also had corn, potatoes, some vegetarian protien and eclairs for dessert.  Funny how those things happen.
