Appreciation Dinner
This evening, Thursday, was our employee appreciation dinner. It was very nice, great food, and nice company. Many of the managers acted as servers and busing tables. It was actually a buffet, but nonetheless, very tasty. I had the strip steak, a little too done for my taste, but still nicely cooked on any outdoor grill. Jim Connor who was my initial trainer before I quit dishwashing and recommended G'eyser Grill was one of the chefs. He's pleased it's working out so well. It was good hanging out with him over dinner.
Rose and I are headed to Grand Teton National Park tomorrow. It's about an hour and a half from where we live. We've' driven past there, I've sent some pictures so expect some more if I can ever get them transfered to my laptop. I may have to load them to a thumb drive to get my devices to cooperate.
Sitting in the Snow Lodge lounge isn't so bad. I'm watching a great sunset over the Old Faithful Inn with steam from Old Faithful itself being colored by the sunset. quite nice, although it was nice sitting in the Obsidian lounge with a bunch of folks kibitzing about various topics, usually work or what they did for entertainment that day.
I have another 3 day weekend. I really like that except on payday, but then again, I didn't come here expecting to make lots of money. I did pay my way here and home again, and have enough spare to have a good time.
One of the guys, early 20's, I work with is from Poland, part of a program called the Aspire Program. He has to complete a list of things while here like holding a job, eating meals with folks from other countries, doing nature related activities. He said the eating part is easy because there is no one else here that he knows about from Poland. Another guy, again early 20's, is from Zabawi (can'r spell it and google corrects it to Zamboni) asked me about Pennsylvania and asked is it a republican or democratic state. When I asked him why he asked that, he said he's a big fan of the Daily Show and John Oliver. That's were he gets his views of America and feels that I probably agree with both of them. Smart kid. He has some of the other guys there believing that he has a wife and 2 kids back in Africa. I help him out by asking about the baby, is she talking yet and I'll bet she'll say Mama first, that sort of stuff. What we do for entertainment at work.
Well, I have to get some sleep. Big day tomorrow. Hope the weather cooperates. It has been rather nice, even balmy here. Many of the wild flowers are blooming and it looks rather nice without any snow piles around. Supposedly there are some phenomenal displays later in July and early August. I'm sure we'll see some before I leave here. More tomorrow, or possibly not until Saturday.
