Hiking photos

I was suppose to go on a hike today, but the ringleader canceled out.  There are still a few trails in this area I haven't been on yet, but I didn't go today.  I did sign up for a trip to Jackson Hole area and another trip to a Pow-wow in Cody.  the Jackson Hole trip is basically a shopping trip, but a few of us from Obsidian are going together and making it a girls day out.  As for the Pow-wow, I've been told it is the real deal and well worth making the time to go.  It is in Cody. 

Last night was a beautifully clear night with the Milky Way quite visible.  I didn't see it, but I heard it was great.  They turn out the lights in most of the parking areas to make it even better.

Attached are some photos from yesterday's hike.  As Than said, I could tell you they are from anytime as the trees never change here.  The majority of the forest is Pole Pines.  I did see a Yellow-bellied Marmot, but truth be told, I only knew it because folks along the trail saw it and lent me their binoculars, with good instructions where is was located.  Can't really say it looked much different than a ground hog from that distance.

    Beautiful shots! Some are real postcard material. Wow a pow wow...get some sweet grass and sage bundles...great for clearing negative energies and spirits! I would love a nice piece of obsidian too. It's always nice to have something to keep an eye out for at pow wow and shopping excursions or you get overwhelmed. Have fun.

Snowy Tuesday

I think that I eliminated a previous post about a Snowy Sunday-where I complained that there was snow on the ground.  Now there is another snow storm, this time leaving about 3".  It doesn't last long, but it's still here.  The temperature was in the single digits the other night. I did have a funny incident today.  Early this morning, I didn't hear my alarm, so my roomie had to wake me.  She was cool about it, actually thought it was funny.  later on in the day, I came home from work and flopped on my bed.  Patrice, my roomie, was taking a shower and an alarm started going off.  I assumed it was her alarm and when she got out of the shower, she would respond to it.  I just pulled my hearing aids and continued to lay around.  She comes out of the bathroom and tells me it is not her alarm, but a fire alarm, only a drill, but we still have to respond to it.  So much for ignoring alarms. Art, just mostly my art.

I am trying to be very funny with giving myself the artist title.  I am enjoying this new-found interest of watercolor painting.  I will never be great, but who cares?  I am and will be satisfied with my results.  So there!! lol. We are in week 5 of 6 in watercolor class.  I have learned so much between Jane, who is a wonderful instructor, more like a guiding spirit, and YouTube, that has tons and tons of information.  Knowing how I can get involved in something and leave everything else behind, I force myself to shine my kitchen sink, aka straighten up the kitchen, before I sit and watch and paint.  Not a bad life, I'll tell you. Enjoy the  refrigerator art.  Thanks.... This is one study we did in class, applying some new techniques Just pictures.  The one with the moon is salt added to the wet paint for the sky to give it a neat look Cute snow creature with practice pad colors on the edge I was just messing around...

Still more art

gorgeous sunset taken by Flora who especially liked the juxtaposition of the Amish hay mounds and the electric wires.    This blog starts off with a picture just to get your attention. Flora was quick on the camera button, once again. I'm having issues thinking of different names for the blog title. I seem to be in a rut. but then again, perhaps I am. The art classes are great.  As much as I enjoyed watercolor at Yellowstone. it was only a tiny taste of how satisfying it is.  Joan and I are both surprised and quite pleased with the results we have. We both feel like we discovered something important to us, to our souls, or our spirits.  Anyway, all the pictures are mine, but you get to meet Joan and Jane and a glimpse of Susan.
