Mystic Falls
Another fun day! The three of us, Rose, Steve and myself, took a hike to Mystic Falls today. We started at Biscuit Basin, so named because the 1959 earthquake started one of the pools, Sapphire Pool, to erupt and when it did, it released huge rocks around the crater that looked like bisquets to someone. The actual hike was about 2 miles, not too hard, but the end results were Mystic falls. They were more of a cascade than Fairy Falls, and just gorgeous. Seeing all these falls really has me energized to see Ricketts Glenn falls again. It has been years since I have been there. I'm sure someone will go with me, since I won't have Rose and Steve.
This morning I went to another water painting class. It was a different instructor who explained thing just slightly differently. It was interesting. My pictures look rather amateurish, but it is really fun and self satisfying.
I have been having fun with a raven, Rose calls him/her Charlie. because we see a single raven around here a lot we have decided that it's the same one. So now whenever I see it, I say, Pretty Boy. He answers me with a raven sound, but I still repeat it. I'm hoping that he would eventually repeat it. I think that it would be really funny to have a raven flying around calling Pretty Boy, Pretty Boy.
Tomorrow, Sunday, four of us - the regular 3 and Brenda-are going to the Cowboy Cookout. Anytime we mention it to anyone, we're told it's such a great experience. I'm looking forward to a real steak, cooked to order. Mmmm. We are leaving at 9 am for a 3:45 cookout so we'll have time to enjoy the scenery along the way. Details probably not tomorrow, but soon.
There's a phrase around here that folks use when they are planning to go somewhere and are setting a time. AIS-Ass In Seat as opposed to AIPL-Ass in Parking Lot, a more general time.
I am really counting down the days until I get home. I'm trying to get photos of the usual people from the residence, Geyser Grill, and just general friends I have made. Right now in the residence lounge, there are 8-10 people floating in and out, kibitzing and generally entertaining themselves. More later.
