well, today is our Sunday of Labor Day Weekend Party. Than and I have been hosting this party for 18 years. It has taken on a life of its own. I swear when we sell this property, we'll have to include a rider that says there will be a party here on this day. So many of our friends have pitched in and helped us get ready that it is heart warming, not to mention extremely necessary. We couldn't do this without our friends. Mike and Maggie did tons of landscaping, Flora, Richard and Scott, Stuart, Danny, Annie, Todd, Ginny, Angie, Mex, and i'm sure there are others I have forgotten to mention. Pam came over on Friday evening, camping out in her car, and made Saturday not only productive, but tons of fun.
Mike and Deb are bringing their grill and enough hot dogs and hamburgers to feed the hoards, other folks are bringing food until we get to the point of where to put it. It is great food, and an amazing variety as I tell folks to being their favorite party food, or not. And then there's the music from the garage. We have a top notch sound system, thanks to Richard and his son Steve, who comes from New Orleans for this party. And we have top notch musicians who come here just to be able to play with all the other musicians from around the area. We have great music ranging from rock and roll, jazz, blues and a quite a few genres in between. Just great music. One time we had an 11 piece band complete with a brass section playing in the garage. Another time we had a Russian Dance Troupe show up after another gig they had. Once we had a country band do their first set, complete with costumes, because their gig cancelled and they were all dressed up with nowhere to go. One never knows who will show up. I think the sign of a good party is when no one person knows everyone there. Than and I never know everyone that shows up here.
I'll be wearing my Yellowstone shirt that folks from there signed at my going home party. That way, I'll have the spirits of my friends here too. I feel very much loved and cared for at this party. That's how a felt about some folks at Yellowstone. I can actually imagine Rose, Steve and Brenda here, finding humor in guessing what each would be doing. The things I do to amuse myself.
Here are some before photos and other stuff.

He's actually an Xmas dragon, but I put the cowboy hat I wore at the Cowboy Cookout on him to bring him into the party theme. The black feather is from a raven in YNP. Maybe the one I was teaching to say, "Pretty Boy"?? |
I add my thank yous to everyone who helped with a party. And to everyone who attended the party. It's all about music.
