West Yellowstone

Once again, I'm in West Yellowstone, doing some sightseeing and using the wifi.  I'm in a sweet little shop called the Book Peddler that also has a coffee and snack shop.  Mmmm.  Cappuccino and Snickerdoodles.  What a lovely lunch.

While I was here, I checked out the Yellowstone Historic Center Museum.  I was an early railroad station that folks visiting Yellowstone had to stop to get the stagecoach into Yellowstone.  The train doesn't go into the park.  Also, there are just some cute shops and regular tourist places, a thousand motels and restaurants.

Outside museum, also there is actual grass.  Real stuff that gets mowed.  Never thought I would miss grass

They actually encouraged bears to beg at cars.  Also set up garbage dumps to attract bears.  At that time there were about 50 bear caused injuries a year compared to one or none now.  And more dignity for the bears.






Hopefully I can add more pictures after the museum pictures.  If they mixed in, I'm sure you'll figure it out.

On the way here, I stopped to take a shot of maybe Hayes Mountain.  That may not be the name, but I'm sure you'll enjoy it anyway.  Also, another set of rainbow pictures.  These are the ones I mentioned in the last blog.  I'm planning on doing another blog with hiking pictures.  It seems it's either feast or famine with pictures.

Snowy Tuesday

I think that I eliminated a previous post about a Snowy Sunday-where I complained that there was snow on the ground.  Now there is another snow storm, this time leaving about 3".  It doesn't last long, but it's still here.  The temperature was in the single digits the other night. I did have a funny incident today.  Early this morning, I didn't hear my alarm, so my roomie had to wake me.  She was cool about it, actually thought it was funny.  later on in the day, I came home from work and flopped on my bed.  Patrice, my roomie, was taking a shower and an alarm started going off.  I assumed it was her alarm and when she got out of the shower, she would respond to it.  I just pulled my hearing aids and continued to lay around.  She comes out of the bathroom and tells me it is not her alarm, but a fire alarm, only a drill, but we still have to respond to it.  So much for ignoring alarms. Finally, Wifi

Just regular bison photos that I can't get to the bottom of this blog.  More further down with the story that makes sense. I'm sitting in a McDonalds in West Yellowstone, Montana, because they have Wifi.  Yeah.  There is still no Wifi at the park.  it was suppose to be fixed over the weekend, but it's not.  Probably when I get back, it will be, but it is nice to get away from  Old Faithful and all the tourist, not to mention the log pine trees.  If I never see another pine tree, it will be ok because that is all I see here. Rose, my roomie, and I went to Mammoth Springs on Friday.  What a great day.  I was anxious to see some Red Dogs, the nickname for baby bison.  We did manage to see them in stages.  At one point, we were tied up in traffic for over 90 minutes because of a Bison jam.  We were told about 300 crossed the road.  That wasn't bad enough, so then a few of them decided to take a n...

Wolf Video from Yellowstone

My Yellowstone buddy, Brenda is back at YNP for the winter season. Within the first few days, she and friends saw a wolf herd.  Brenda, quick with the camera was able to get a few seconds of video. Thanks. Since the last post, my art class ended.  Joan and I are signed up for the February class.  I've added a few pictures that I painted.  Some are good, some aren't but it's the thought that  counts, right?   I painted a few yellowstone  pictures for four of my Yellowstone friends.  They all saw the original painting I did at YNP, so they will know how far I have come....
